Technology and the use of Social Media are on the rise among users and creating content to appeal to these people takes an understanding of the basics of web design and development. While everybody probably won't create a website, it helps to have the knowledge of how it develops and the key features to seek. The role of web design and development in an instructional setting is in two parts: teaching the user a basic understanding of a site to provide better online safety and building better site designs for instructional learning in a virtual setting.

With the growth in users, the need for more accessibility and user-friendly design and content increases. There is a big future ahead of web design and development to create training sites for corporations and educational sites for K-12 settings.

The field of web design and development will expand and include many different areas of life because most of what we do is online. A person can order dinner, buy a new car, find a house, and ship a dress online in a few hours. Employers are wanting to find the most cost-effective ways to train people and schools want to prepare students for the workforce. This is a field that more people will need instruction in and will grow with the number of jobs available. The more knowledge people have in this specialization the better prepared they will be for the future.
